Robert Ehrhardt ("CashOwl", "us", "we", or "our") operates the CashOwl mobile application (hereinafter referred to as the "Service").

This Privacy Policy informs you about how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information when you use our Service on Android and iOS platforms.

By using the Service, you agree to the practices described herein. Unless otherwise defined, terms in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions.

Definitions

Service: CashOwl mobile application.
Personal Data: Information that identifies a living individual.
Usage Data: Automatically collected data (e.g., page visit duration).
Cookies: Small data files stored on your device.
Data Controller: The entity that determines the purposes of personal data use. For this policy, it's Robert Ehrhardt.
Data Processor (or Service Provider): A third-party entity that processes data on behalf of the Data Controller.
Data Subject (User): Any living individual using the Service.

Information Collection and Use

Local Device Data

CashOwl does not collect or use any specific data of your entered data in the mobile application.

All entered data are stored only on the device. As no method of storage or transmission can ever achieve 100% security, CashOwl cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Your content is not saved on our servers nor do we have access to this data.

Platform-Specific Cloud Integration

On iOS, the Service may use Apple iCloud Drive (if enabled) for automatic syncing between devices. This is controlled by Apple and can be disabled via system settings.
On Android, no automatic cloud sync is initiated without user action except you are using Android/Google system backup which can backup your app data.

OAuth-Based Services

If you choose to link third-party accounts for enhanced functionality (such as backups or imports), CashOwl may use OAuth for secure, token-based authentication. This is used solely to facilitate your explicit actions, such as exporting data or restoring backups.

Integrated OAuth Providers

Google OAuth: Used for accessing your Google Drive for backup/restore features. Only metadata and user-granted file scope access is used. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Dropbox OAuth: Used for connecting your Dropbox account to store or retrieve backups. CashOwl does not access any other part of your Dropbox beyond what you explicitly authorize. See Dropbox's Privacy Policy.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are from the European Economic Area (EEA), CashOwl legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described in this Privacy Policy depends on the Personal Data we collect and the specific context in which we collect it.

We may process your Personal Data because:

Data Retention

We store your data only:

Locally on your device, or
In your chosen cloud provider (e.g., iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox).

We retain Usage Data internally only for debugging and product improvement purposes.

The security of your data is important to us but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights. CashOwl aims to take reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete or limit the use of your Personal Data.

Service Providers

We may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service ("Service Providers"), provide the Service on our behalf, perform Service-related services or assist us in analysing how our Service is used.

These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Payments

We may provide paid products and/or services within the Service. In that case, we use third-party services for payment processing (e.g. payment processors).

We will not store or collect your payment card details. That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy. These payment processors adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of payment information.

Remarketing and Advertising

CashOwl uses remarketing services to advertise on third party websites to you after you visited our Service. We and our third-party vendors use cookies to inform, optimise and serve ads based on your past visits to our Service.

DISCLAIMER / LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The user acknowledges that the software may not be free from defects and may not satisfy all needs. Installation and usage is at users own risk.
Although CashOwl is tested under best efforts, it is using database technologies which may can possibly crash or also can get corrupted (data loss). The user is responsible for any possible data loss. It is highly recommended to make backups of the database regularly.

The software is provided 'as-is', without any express or implied warranty. In no event the author will be held liable for any damages arising from the use of this software.

It is not allowed to recompile, dissassemble, change, translate or clone the software and setup completely or partly in an unauthorized way.
